This blog is intended to share my personal experience playing FIFA Soccer. And I've been doing this since 1993 with the release of FIFA International Soccer which I played a lot on PC. Hope this can be handy for you that love playing soccer games as much as I do.
Well, its not ease leave down here (Brazil). Fifa 2010 is already released up there (England) and I am still waiting for the chance to play with a version that is not the demo (available to download via PlayStation Network.
Lets see if I am able to put my hands on it this week.

Se a resposta foi sim a estas duas perguntas, você vai adorar o FIFA Ultimate Team, pois é justamente isso que ele é, um novo jogo dentro do FIFA onde todos os conceitos do álbum de figurinhas de futebol foram adicionados à jogabilidade e iteratividade do FIFA 09.
Oficialmente o Ultimate Team (UT) é um add-on que possibilita um novo modo de jogo que funciona através da compra e troca de figurinhas. Você pode baixar ele gratuitamente para testar jogando as 5 primeiras partidas sem custo. Caso queira usar sem limitações, você precisa comprar o pacote por USD 9.99
Quando você começa neste modo, você recebe um kit para poder começar a jogar, é como se tivesse comprado o álbum de figurinhas com um pacote inicial, que contem o mínimo necessário para você jogar: um logo para seu time, um uniforme titular, um uniforme reserva, um campo para você jogar em casa e cerca de 20 figurinhas de jogadores (2 goleiros, jogadores de defesa, meio campo e ataque). Todas estas figurinhas que você recebe são aleatórias e o nível dos jogadores normalmente é baixo. Você também tem a opção de adicionar a figurinha dos jogadores que você criou.
Com as figurinhas dos jogadores você monta seu time e ai pode jogar online ou off-line. O detalhe aqui é que mesmo os jogos off-line precisam da conexão ativa com o servidor da EA via internet, se a conexão cair, você sai do modo UT.
O objetivo do jogo é você comprar ou trocar figurinhas de modo a montar seu time dos sonhos. E todos os componentes existem como figurinhas, os jogadores, os técnicos, estádios, médico do time, preparador físico, uniformes, logo, inclusive figurinhas para melhorar dribles, ou resistência do jogador, para curar de lesões, para extender o contrato de um jogador, etc.
Você pode comprar figurinhas de duas formas; com os pontos que você ganha quando joga, ou com dinheiro mesmo. Existem 3 tipos de pacotes de figurinhas que podem ser compradas, pacote bronze, prata ou ouro. Cada pacote vem com 12 figurinhas que podem ser de qualquer tipo. O melhor pacote é o ouro, que vem com as melhores figurinhas. Ele também é o mais caro, custa 5.000 pontos ou USD 0,99. O prata custa 2.000 pontos ou USD 0.50. E o mais simples é o bronze que custa 500 pontos.
Uma vez que você comprou um pacote, ele é aberto e você precisa decidir o que vai fazer com as figurinhas. Você possui uma quantidade limitada de figurinhas que você pode manter de jogadores para o seu time, então quando você tem novas figurinhas, você precisa decidir se vai substituir seus jogadores pelos novos ou não. Uma vez que você tem uma figurinha que não deseja e nem pode manter no seu time, você tem algumas opções: você pode descartá-la (você ganha alguns pontos por isso), você pode enviá-la para troca (a EA criou um local para venda/troca de figurinhas), ou você pode enviá-la para seu álbum de figurinhas. Neste caso, você também recebe credito de alguns pontos e a figurinha vai para um álbum igualzinho aquele que comprávamos e colávamos as figurinhas. A diferença é que este álbum é de todos os clubes e seleções que estão no jogo.
A jogabilidade também ficou diferente. Cada figurinha de jogador (ou cada jogador) possui uma serie de atributos, dentre eles nacionalidade, formação preferida, etc. Quando você coloca em um mesmo setor (defesa, meio de campo, ou ataque) jogadores da mesma nacionalidade, seu time aumenta o entrosamento (Chemistry). O fato de um jogador participar de um time com uma formação que é preferida por ele e pelo técnico também melhora o entrosamento do time.
Cada jogador também precisa ser acompanhado de perto, pois possui um numero limitado de jogos que eles jogarão até o contrato vencer. E quando isso acontece você precisa usar figurinhas de extensão de contrato para que ele jogue mais.
Existem também figurinhas para serem usadas durante o jogo. Figurinhas que melhoram o drible do jogador, que fazem com que ele não erre uma penalidade, façam com que o juiz faça vistas grossas para entradas mais duras dos seus jogadores, etc.
Alem de todos estes itens, o UT possui ainda um total 36 torneios (entre clubes e online). Existem 12 torneios diferentes cada um com 3 níveis diferentes de dificuldade, mas para poder participar deles, você precisa de pontos de experiência, que são adquiridos com jogos. Estes torneios, contra jogadores online ou contra a Inteligência Artificial do jogo, são o grande diferencial do UT.
I’ve just finished my first season in England playing with Luton Town on Coca-Cola League 2. I have finished in 1st position, but the league wasn’t that easy. As matter of fact things only got a little bit easier on the second transfer window when I was able to get two additional players for the defense and another three for midfield. At the end, the only player I keep from original Luton squad was K. NICHOLLS since is good at free kicks.

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final was pretty cool in a big stadium at night against Hartlepool which I defeat by 4x0 :)
I hope I will be able to buy Ronaldo now at the beginning of the season. Lets see how it goes!

I started playing Fifa 09 Manager Mode with ST. PAULI from 2. BUDESLIGA. The reason for that is that I am current unable to play in manager mode with my favorite team: Corinthians. Since Corinthians played last year national second division in Brazil and Fifa 09 only has the first division available, there is no way to choose Corinthians on manager mode (its listed on Rest of the World). So, the initial strategy was to choose a team from the second (or third) division of another country and start transferring players from Corinthians to that team. And the chosen one for this first attempt was ST. PAULI in Germany.
It turned out that some Corinthians players are just not good enough if you are planning to win the most important tournament in Europe which is the Champions League. So, as long as I was going through my first attempt with ST. PAULI, it turned out that I start buying not only Corinthians players, but also other players for Corinthians weakest positions. And the players I brought were EDUARDO RATINHO, THIAGO SILVA, ANDRE DIAS, P.GUINAZU, G. HERRERA, NILMAR, and C. TEVEZ. So at the end, only for part of the midfield and the defense I was able to use Corinthians players.
By the way, if you are starting a Manager Mode and need a good Central Defender, THIAGO SILVA is the one. He is very good and, if you are playing with player auto growth enable, you will realize that after one or two seasons he will be one of the best players of the market.
After playing a while in Germany, I realize that most of teams I was playing against, I didn’t know so well, and this can make the matches kind of boring. So, after losing the Champions final to TOTTENHAM, I move to Italy to play the SERIE B with PARMA. And there the things got much more exiting, because I had the first season to make the changes I needed to the team during the first season, and on the second season I was ready for the big matches. And it is amazing playing against INTER, MILAN, LAZIO, FIORENTINA, ROMA and JUVENTUS. Not only because these teams are very popular here in Brazil, but also because they have a lot of Brazilian players.
After playing two seasons on Italy, EA released the updated squad file and there was a lot of interesting changes in Corinthians. I think that the most important one was that RONALDO finally showed up and could be used. Also, Corinthians younger’s players like DIEGO, RENATO and BOQUITA were available.
This makes me start a new Manager Mode with PORTUGUESA. The problem was that after playing the first season, I realized that the only tournaments I was able to play were LIGA DO BRASIL and COPA BRASIL. It’s really frustrating not been able to play LIBERTADORES DA AMERICA on Manager Mode, since we have so many good teams in Brazil , Argentine, and since tree of the five editions of FIFA Club World Cup were won by Brazilian teams. So this is something that EA should really fix in future versions.
Well, and this brings me where I am right now, England!
I have started a new manager mode in England’s COCA-COLA LEAGUE 2 (equivalent to Brazilian fourth division) with LUTON TOWN F.C., and it’s been really challenging.
First, because the players overall are very low and second because the matches are tough with closer marking and this makes it harder to keep or pass the ball. I am current playing on Professional difficult level with a half length of 5 minutes and I am on the math day 20 of the league. I am on the top of the table with 39 points followed by DARLINGTON with 37 points but I am 2 matches ahead. I leaved the ENGLISH LEAGUE CUP on the second round, been defeated by A.VILLA (It’s almost impossible beat a 4 stars team playing with a single star one).
What helped me a lot until now to keep me in the first positions were the players I bought in the beginning of the season, the reserve backs from Corinthians DIEGO and RENATO, the midfielder I have got from Mexico, M. TRAORE (scout recommendation) and the striker G. HERRERA. For this manager mode, I also created myself (CRISTIANO) to play as forward with HERRERA. And, of course, it would be impossible to be in this position without improving the FITNESS COACH at least to level 7.
